Teacher

Amy Korver

she/her

Due to growing up on a farm in Iowa as one of five kids, Amy deeply understands the importance of unstructured outdoor time. Whenever she (or a sibling) were in a mood, her mom would kick them outside and say to come back in once they felt better. And frustratingly enough, the sour mood never lasted long and the sun unusually set before their outdoor games ended.

Amy is so excited to be joining the Wild Whimsy team and has childcare history working as an au-pair, a nanny, a bike summer camp counselor, a daycare employee, and a babysitter. She has also worked as a dessert chef, a singer, a blueberry vendor, an actor, a traveling women’s mtb clothing salesman, a pumpkin-farm hand, a box- office manager, a pie-baker, and a non-profit bike education manager.

She can often be found riding bike, tending the garden, singing with friends, and trying to figure out what grows wild around the Pacific Northwest that she can eat.

Administrator and Community Teacher

Addie Carns

she/her

Addie is a 5th-generation Seattleite who has traveled worldwide but always finds her way back to the great Pacific Northwest. Her love for nature and the outdoors started early in her childhood, helping her parents in the garden, camping and backpacking, exploring all of Seattle’s amazing parks, and biking around the city. After moving to New York, her longing for Seattle’s open green spaces drove her to move back home and gave her an even deeper appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us in this amazing city.

An interdisciplinary Biology and Food Sciences degree from Evergreen State College fostered her passion for education, community, diversity, and social justice. She brings a rich background of hands-on experience as an instructional biology lab technician, nanny, babysitter, preschool assistant, reading tutor, metalsmith, line cook, server, catering chef, ice cream maker, Department of Fish and Wildlife lab employee, and Washington State Arts Commission archivist... to name a few! She believes strongly in advocacy and building confidence, agency, and stewardship through teaching.

Her love of the outdoors has driven many adventures– from a 4-month solo trip to hike the national parks in Costa Rica, to white water canoeing in Wisconsin, or backpacking the Cascades Pass Trail into Stehekin. When she’s not out exploring nature, you might find her in the garden, volunteering at the animal shelter, tinkering in the metal studio, sewing, making shrinky dinks, or playing with one of her pets. She brings a sense of curiosity, wonder, and play to her work and is thrilled to be a part of the team and to help nurture the vibrant, inclusive learning community at Wild Whimsy.
