After-School HikinG Club
Welcome to our after-school Hiking Club in Discovery Park, where adventure awaits children aged 5-12! Our club provides a fun and social environment where kids can explore the wonders of nature right after school. Whether arriving by our convenient van transport or dropped off by caregivers, each session begins with exciting hikes through the park, allowing us to connect with nature and discover its hidden treasures. Occasionally, we venture to the library and other nearby spaces to engage in activities like cooking and crafting using materials sourced from the forest. Every day, our club offers opportunities for creativity, play, and learning about the environment. Join us for an enriching experience filled with exploration, friendship, and hands-on discovery!

Schedule
Wild Whimsy After School Hiking Club is offered Monday & Thursday from 2:20-5pm, & Wednesday from 1:10-5pm. Van transport is available from Lawton Elementary, Magnolia Elementary, and Catharine Blaine Elementary.
Families not utilizing the van transport may drop-off in the field adjacent to the Discovery Park North Parking Lot between 2:50 and 3:00pm on Mon. & Thur., and 1:40-1:50pm on Wed.
Pickup is in the Discovery Park Visitor Center parking lot at 5 pm.
Adventure
Welcome to our after-school hiking club, where children ages 5-12 can unwind and explore Discovery Park at a leisurely pace after a focused school day. Each session focuses on discovering intriguing points of interest such as unique plants, fascinating fungi, or breathtaking views within the park. Kids will have the opportunity to maintain a field notebook to record their nature discoveries and insights from our explorations. As the winter days shorten, we adapt by using headlamps for evening hikes and by visiting indoor spaces where we can engage in creative projects and cook with foraged forest treasures. Join us for an enriching journey through nature, where learning, exploration, and fun are at the heart of every adventure!
